Seasons 2016 Visitor Hosts

SCAPE Public Art Season 2016, will be opening this year in Christchurch between
1 October - 12 November 2016 which mixes new artworks with existing legacy pieces, an education programme, and a public programme of events.

We are now recruiting for a team of Visitor Hosts to be the primary interface and interpretation for SCAPE’s Temporary and Permanent artworks to visitors for the duration of SCAPE Season 2016. You will be responsible for welcoming local, national and international visitors and groups to our programme events based at our Arts Centre Hub site.

If you are an enthusiastic "people" person, art lover and enjoy interacting with a variety of individuals from all walks of life, this is an opportunity for you. Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the successful candidates will work within a dynamic team, and will also engage with other SCAPE Visitor Hosts, project assistants, marketing and communications staff, security, functions and event staff; director, art project assistants (volunteers) and other key SCAPE staff.

Key aspects of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering a warm welcome to all visitors and providing them with a high level of customer service
  • Assisting visitors at the Arts Centre Hub and providing information as required
  • Acting as a host, using your knowledge and friendly personality to assist visitors in making the most of what the SCAPE Season 2016 programme has to offer, including guiding tours on the Public Art walkway

Ideally we are looking for candidates who have previous experience in customer service, the art industry and hospitality as well as demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team.  Excellent verbal communication skills are a must along with the confidence and ability to relate to a broad range of visitors.  A relevant work visa and a good command of English is required.
