Richard Aindow joined the SCAPE team as Executive Director in April 2023. A passionate leader with a long history in the creative arts, Richard was the General Manager of Aotearoa’s longest-running contemporary dance company, Footnote New Zealand Dance, between 2014 and 2021. Prior to Footnote, he worked as the General Manager and then Editor of Wellington’s magazine, FishHead.
As well as bringing public art and new conversations to Ōtautahi Christchurch, he is most excited about supporting SCAPE’s emerging and established artists, expanding SCAPE’s inspirational education programmes, and playing a part in bringing communities together in public spaces through contemporary art.
Richard is also a director of arts-led tech company Pickpath, and has held senior governance roles within non-profit organisations in public radio and community services. He also works voluntarily as an arts assessor. Richard has a wife, Caroline, who grew up in Mid-Canterbury, and two young children who take up most of his time outside of work. He enjoys exploring with his whānau, coffee, sport, and, of course, the arts.
