Since 2000 Phil Price has focused on wind-activated kinetic sculpture. His sculptures are highly engineered and seamlessly created works that defy the rational. Large forms can move elegantly or violently in the wind, their organic shapes inspired by both the natural world and the artist’s vivid reimagining of it. Over the last 10 years Price has developed a state-of-the-art studio where the work evolves from the artist’s intimate drawings through to digital renderings to his fully realised sculptures. Price’s perfectionism and interest in engineering keeps all processes in-house, allowing him to experiment and explore within his own sanctuary.

Phil Price has created major international public and private projects including: Cytoplasm Auckland Viaduct Basin, Tree of Life, McClelland Gallery Victoria, Nucleus, Christchurch, and Snake, Aarhus Denmark. His work is held in numerous collections internationally, including Austria, USA, Switzerland, Holland, UK and Australia.
