SCAPE’s School Holiday Workshops invite creative expression in a supportive environment, taught by our qualified, specialist art educator.
We will be looking at “Ka Mua Ka Muri” by Kazu Nakagawa – a sculpture with a very special message for Christchurch – which is right outside our workshop venue, the Multicultural Community & Recreation Centre, 455 Hagley Ave. Learn about the artist’s ideas and 3D paper construction techniques. Then create your own construction to take home.
Date: Monday 13 April, 2026
Times: choose 10-11.30am or 12.30-2pm
Cost: $10 plus booking fee (about $11 per child)
Workshop numbers are limited, so please book early.
Adults are welcome to stay, and there is free parking on site available for that purpose.
Observers of the workshop pilot said:
I loved the way we were able to connect to “our place” in Christchurch through art. We learned so much about something that we pass every day. It is rare to see an activity that engages every student and this was one that did. – Teacher
I worked on the activity with a young man with Autism who was totally engrossed in the activity. It brought me joy to see him receive so much from being a part of this great programme. – Assisting Adult
