Janet Lilo b.1982 (Te Rarawa, Samoa & Niue) works in digital video, photography, sculpture and installation. Her art practice explores experimental documentary and drawing processes for exhibition, performance and archive. She is interested in documentation as a conversational and social tool for recording time, people and place. Her projects have been exhibited in Asia, Europe, America and Moana oceania – and extensively throughout New Zealand from Auckland Art Gallery, Te Papa Museum and Christchurch Art Gallery.
Janet is a founding member of community arts collective Whau the People Charitable Trust based in Avondale (Auckland) where she currently works at ALL GOODS gallery. Until recently she lectured at AUT, Unitec and Elam across visual arts and was a long serving board member of Tautai Pacific arts Trust.
Janet’s greatest achievement is being a proud mum to three beautiful boys and spends most of her time driving them around.
