Maioha Kara

Maioha Kara (Ngāti Korokī Kahukura, Ngāti Tipa, Te Ātihaunui-A-Papārangi, Tūhourangi, Te Whānau a Hinetapora, Kuki Airani) draws on Te Ao Māori to examine our relationship with other parts of the natural world and our connections to each other. She uses geometric shape and pattern to make sense of whakapapa, exploring how we can define our position in relation to and because of everything within and around us.

She completed an MFA at Massey University in 2021 and is now undertaking PhD study.

Maioha exhibited in Whetūrangaitia/Made As Stars at The Dowse in 2022 and is represented by Laree Payne Gallery.
