Mollie Shaw is a graphic designer based in Ōtautahi and a 2024 graduate of the Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury.
Her practice is grounded in critical design, using visual communication to interrogate systems of power, identity, and control. Drawing on both research and her own experience as an immigrant, she explores the social and political dimensions of design, often engaging with themes like migration, surveillance, and bureaucracy. Mollie’s work seeks not to offer simple solutions, but to provoke reflection and challenge the systems that shape our lived experience.
