Graz, Austria – Solidarity Grid

The 11th of 21 street lamps installed as part of Mischa Kuball’s Solidarity Grid. It was installed in November 2014.

The Graz street lamp comes to Christchurch from Austria’s second largest city, proudly supplied by the City of Graz and Energie Graz. The hooked, forest green lamp is coloured to blend in with the natural environment. This is reflective of the green, heavily forested state of Styria in which Graz is located.

A city steeped in culture, Graz is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site with fascinating architecture, museums, palaces and cathedrals. It is a student-friendly city with a population of over 310,000 people, of which 42,000 are students. Red thatched roofs are commonplace in Graz’s relaxed, alpine setting.
