Charlotte Bobichon responded to our open call for young artists around the city to take part in the Re:ACTIVATE Kids for the Season 2017. Charlotte chose whales as her subject because she knew that they migrated around the world and she migrated here too. The artwork relates to Kaikoura’s sperm whales which are so close to Ōtautahi Christchurch. Charlotte wants us to look after the whales because they are so special to us.

RE:ACTIVATE Kids & Teen 2017 was open to all aspiring artists under 18 years of age to have their work produced by SCAPE. Designs were selected by a judging panel. Supporter of the arts and community projects lead sponsors, Lewis Bradford Consulting Engineers, have committed support for young people like Charlotte to realise their sculptural dreams through this annual SCAPE Public Art programme.
