Memory

Memory by Sarah Greig is a graphic representation of harakeke/flax growing from a chimney. It was designed to remind us that although we have lost so much of our architectural heritage, new life continues to grow.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Speaking about the artwork, Sarah Greig says: The natural heritage that we are protecting will make for a stronger city and will be around for countless future generations to enjoy. It shows us that nature will be an essential part of our emerging city, as it has been an integral piece of our past.

Memory is suspended between two trees and sits at the height that a chimney would be, if there were a house below it. When viewed from the pathways, the flat piece appears to be three-dimensional.
