SCAPE Public Art is coordinating a mural project for Youth Hub’s Outdoor Activity Courtyard. The mural is 164 square metres and wraps around two sides of the courtyard.
Everyone is welcome to join in painting the mural on Sunday 27 April, 11am – 2pm.
The project involves ten rangatahi from local schools, including one current Youth Hub resident, mentored by professional mural artists, Richie (Pops) Baker and Lucas Lunn, and facilitated by SCAPE Public Art.
These young people have already done four days of SCAPE workshops learning about different artistic styles, and forming a vision for the mural. Now they are learning techniques from the pros.
The Community Painting Day is a free event with a relaxed vibe. Just drop in when you can. Bring yourself, your friends and whanau. Wear old clothes suitable for painting (nothing precious!).
This project is a partnership between SCAPE Public Art and Youth Hub Christchurch. We are very grateful for the support of Field Studio Architecture + Urbanism, Farina Thompson Charitable Trust proudly managed by Perpetual Guardian, and Mahi Toi, with materials donated by Bunnings Shirley and Resene.
