Nina Oberg Humphries is a professional artist and current Deputy Chair of the SCAPE Public Art Trust. Christchurch born and bred (b.1990), Nina is of Cook Islands and Pākehā descent. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Sculpture from Ilam School of Fine Arts in 2018. Her work explores her dual Pacific and Western heritage.
In 2017 Nina was the SCAPE community engagement artist, developing ‘ARE PASIFIKA, a five-week series of events, workshops, and activities highlighting Pacific arts and culture in Canterbury. Nina has exhibited throughout New Zealand and was awarded the 2020 Canterbury University Macmillan Brown Artist in Residence. Nina is a passionate advocate for Pacific peoples working across libraries, education and arts, with a strong belief in the power that public art has to uplift, create new ways of thinking and develop a deeper sense of belonging in our city.
