Olivia Webb

Olivia Webb (b.1988) is an artist and musician of Dutch-Pākehā descent based in Ōtautahi. She loves working with others and is most interested in questions about how we live together. Her recent artworks explore identity and belonging through participatory projects which foreground practices of listening. Olivia’s projects often utilise the human voice – particularly in song – as well as performance, video, multi-channel sound, and composition.

Olivia has performed and exhibited internationally as an artist and vocalist, and enjoys singing early sacred music with her local choir each week. Recent exhibitions and performances include Anthems of Belonging(Christchurch Art Gallery, 2021; The Dowse 2020; St Paul St Gallery, 2019); Manawa Ora (Sustainable Development Goals Summit, 2018); Attunement (Toi Pōneke, Wellington, 2017-2018; NIME, Virginia USA, 2018); Untitled (Sculpture on the Gulf, Waiheke, 2017); Skull Acoustics (PSi#22, Melbourne, 2016); Lapides Vivi (Edinburgh Art Festival, 2016); Miserere Mei (Brick Bay Sculpture Trail, 2016); In Paradisum (Oceanic Performance Biennial, Cook Islands 2015); and Scale (Te Tuhi Art Gallery, 2015).

Olivia works as a singing tutor, holds a B.F.A. (Hons) (Massey University), a Master’s degree in Performance and Media Arts (AUT), and a Ph.D. in Art + Design (AUT).
